Dnipropetrovsk region declares day of mourning after strike on DTEK bus carrying miners

The Dnipropetrovsk region is observing a day of mourning on 2 February following an attack on a company bus carrying DTEK employees in the town of Ternivka.

This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration (RMA).

As of the morning, at least 12 people have been confirmed killed.

Head of the RMA Oleksandr Hanzha said that not only Ternivka, where the strike occurred, but the entire region is mourning the tragedy.

The RMA emphasised that people were killed as a result of a “hostile attack” on civilian transport and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. The statement noted that the memory of those killed would be honoured at both community and regional levels.

According to Hanzha, the city had not yet recovered from the tragedy when Ternivka was attacked again overnight by drones. The repeated strike caused an administrative building and an adjacent structure to catch fire.

The regional head also reported a series of attacks on other communities across the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Earlier, Russian occupiers attacked border areas of the Chernihiv region.
