General Staff reports 167 combat engagements on the frontline on December 16
As of 04:00 p.m. on December 16, there were 167 combat engagements on the front, with the highest intensity of attacks recorded in the Pokrovsk direction.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 41 attacks there, while the enemy attempted to advance 52 times in areas including Kotlyne, Udachne, and towards Rivne, Myrnohrad, and other settlements.
Significant enemy activity was also recorded in the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Huliaipole directions, each registering over 20 combat engagements.
On the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces tried 22 times to push Ukrainian units toward Kupiansk and surrounding villages. On the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out a similar number of attacks near Torske and neighboring settlements. The Huliaipole direction recorded 25 combat engagements near Solodke and toward Varvarivka. On the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 19 assault actions. On the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy tried nine times to break through the defense near Pleshchiivka and Ivanopillia.
In northern Ukraine, communities in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, including Mykolaivka and Pryvillia, came under artillery and mortar fire. On the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, ten combat engagements occurred, and the enemy conducted over 70 shellings. In Kharkiv region, defenders repelled seven attacks in the Southern Slobozhansky direction, and on the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attempted seven times to breach defenses near Shcherbakiv and Stepove.
According to the General Staff, total Russian combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion are estimated at approximately 1,190,620 personnel.
On the last day, as of December 16, 2025, Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated about 1,150 Russian soldiers, significantly increasing the overall losses of the Russian army on the frontline.
Ukrainian forces received reinforcements and continue to hold back Russian assaults in the Pokrovsk direction.
