Russia strikes a grain ship under the Panamanian flag in Odesa region
On 30 December, Russian forces attacked the Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk ports in Odesa region. One person was injured, and a civilian grain ship flying the Panamanian flag sustained damage while in one of the ports. Emergency services are currently addressing the aftermath of the attack.
This was reported by Oleksiy Kuleba, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories.
According to Kuleba, the Russian strike also damaged oil storage tanks at an industrial enterprise. He explained that such attacks are intended to disrupt logistics and complicate shipping, but assured that despite the shelling, the maritime ports continue to operate.
Previously, explosions on the ship in the Odesa port caused at least one injury. Video footage has also emerged showing the damage at the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk.
