Russia launched nearly 500 drones, Shaheds, and 40 missiles at Ukraine — Zelenskyy
Another massive Russian strike is ongoing in Kyiv. Since nighttime, the enemy has used nearly 500 drones, a large number of Shahed attack drones, as well as 40 missiles, including Kinzhal missiles. The primary targets are the capital’s energy and civilian infrastructure.
This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
As a result of the shelling, hits on residential buildings have been recorded and buildings have been damaged. Rescuers are searching for a person under the rubble of one of the houses. In some districts of Kyiv and the surrounding region, electricity and heating are absent. Firefighting efforts are ongoing, and repair crews are working at energy facilities where it is safe to do so; work at other sites will begin after air raid alerts are lifted.

President Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia’s actions demonstrate its unwillingness to end the war, even during the holiday period.
“There have been many questions these days. Where is Russia’s response to the proposals to end the war that were put forward by the United States and the world? Russian representatives engage in long talks, but in reality, ‘Kinzhals’ and ‘Shaheds’ speak for them. This is the true attitude of Putin and his inner circle,” Zelenskyy said.
The president added that Russia is trying to cause greater damage to Ukraine and increase pressure on the world.
“If Russia turns even the Christmas and New Year period into a time of destroyed homes and burned apartments, ruined power plants, then this sick activity can only be answered with truly strong steps. America has this capability, Europe has this capability, many of our partners have this capability. The main thing is to use it,” he said.

Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine’s defense and the timely supply of air defense systems.
“There must be no delays in protecting lives. And I thank every leader and every country that is helping with this. Of course, we will not reduce our diplomatic activity. But diplomacy will not work without security. Security must be ensured by the strong of this world, and we will be talking about this, among other things, today and tomorrow with European leaders, with the Prime Minister of Canada, and with the President of the United States,” he noted.
The president also thanked everyone who supports Ukraine during this difficult time.
As a result of enemy strikes on Kyiv, numerous buildings have been damaged and 22 people have been injured, including two children. Twelve of the injured have been hospitalized.
The Russian terrorist attack on Kyiv lasted almost the entire night. Damage was recorded at multiple locations across seven districts of the capital.
