An oil refinery is on fire in Tuapse, Russia, following the second attack this week

On the night of April 20, 2026, a series of powerful explosions rocked the Krasnodar Krai region of the Russian Federation.

Strategic facilities in the Tuapse, Gelendzhik, and Anapa areas came under a massive drone attack, causing panic among the local population and paralyzing the transport infrastructure.

The main target of the attack was the Tuapse Oil Refinery, which has come under fire from Ukrainian kamikaze drones for the second time in a week.

Eyewitnesses report hearing loud noises as the UAVs flew overhead and a series of explosions, after which a massive fire broke out at the industrial complex, visible from several kilometers away.

“According to local residents, the most powerful explosions were heard precisely in the Tuapse area,” monitoring channels note, confirming the high intensity of the nighttime operation.

Due to the threat of new strikes, Russian authorities were forced to implement emergency security measures.

Restrictions were temporarily imposed on the operation of the Krasnodar and Gelendzhik airports in the region: air traffic controllers suspended all takeoffs and landings of civilian aircraft, declaring a “Carpet” alert.

The Tuapse Oil Refinery, owned by the Rosneft Corporation, is a critically important facility for the aggressor’s economy.

The plant not only supplies the domestic market with fuel but also has direct access to a maritime export terminal through which petroleum products are shipped to international markets.

Also, on April 18, the Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian TOS-1A “Sontsepok” heavy flamethrower system in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Ukrainian defenders launched a successful strike on enemy logistics hubs, destroying oil product tanks near the temporarily occupied city of Luhansk.

In the Russian city of Tuapse in the Krasnodar Krai, explosions were heard on the night of April 16 amid a drone attack. The strikes may have targeted tanks at the Tuapse Oil Refinery, which belongs to Rosneft.

As a reminder, on the morning of April 15, Ukrainian “Lyuty” strike drones attacked a petrochemical plant in the city of Sterlitamak, located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation.
