Video: Russia Deployed Heavy Armor on the Lyman Direction, but the Column Was Destroyed
On the Lyman direction, Russian forces conducted a mechanized assault using heavy armored vehicles, but Ukrainian troops repelled the attack and destroyed the column.
This was reported by the Third Army Corps.
The enemy armored column was detected within the corps’ area of responsibility. Afterward, strike drones from the Kraken unit were used against it.
The corps noted that Russia continues to rely on heavy mechanized assaults, but modern warfare has significantly changed due to the widespread use of drones.
To prevent enemy infantry from dismounting, Russian BMPs and a tank attacked swarms of FPV drones from the Silver Battalion. Ukrainian artillery also participated in destroying the column.
After the initial strikes, the Russian vehicles began to retreat, but Ukrainian drones continued to pursue them during withdrawal.
The corps reported that in coordination with the Third Assault Brigade, the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, and artillery from the 60th OMBR, every unit in the enemy column was hit.
As a result of the battle, Ukrainian forces destroyed one tank, three armored personnel carriers, and eliminated enemy infantry.
On March 5, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian forces attempted to attack Ukrainian positions three times on the Lyman direction. According to the General Staff, the enemy tried to penetrate Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Drobysheve, Zarichne, and Stavky.
Lyman is strategically important for Russian military plans, as control over this area would open opportunities for further advances toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. The city was liberated by Ukrainian forces in October 2022.
Recently, fighters from Lazar’s Group together with the 429th Separate Drone Brigade “Achilles” and the Joint Forces grouping detected and neutralized a Russian S-400 “Triumf” surface-to-air missile system.
