War in 2026: what Ukrainians should expect

The situation on the battlefields against the Russian aggressor in 2026 will, with a high degree of probability, develop according to an inertial scenario. This is stated in a large feature by UA.News titled “Ukraine-2026: what to expect in the new year.”

Ukrainian Donbas will remain the key theater of hostilities and Russia’s main territorial objective. It is precisely here that the main resources, reserves, and efforts of the Russian army will be concentrated.

At the same time, the situation will remain tense in other sections of the front as well — in the north, east, and south of Ukraine. The length of the line of contact will continue to require superhuman efforts from the Armed Forces to hold it.

“An especially extremely difficult challenge will be the further buildup of missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory. Russia will continue its strategy of systematic destruction of energy, transport, residential, industrial, and military infrastructure. This will mean new waves of severe power outages, problems with heat supply, disruptions in the operation of enterprises, growing social tension — and, as a result, the continuation of mass migration from Ukraine,” the UA.News article states.

The war will increasingly penetrate everyday life, destroying not only the front line but also the rear. As of now, there are no positive military forecasts for the coming year, the article concludes.
