Ukrainian Navy destroys Russian Ka-27 helicopter over the Black Sea
The Ukrainian Navy destroyed a Russian ship-based anti-submarine helicopter Kamov Ka-27 over the waters of the Black Sea. The operation is part of the defensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in response to threats from Russian forces in the region.
This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Navy on March 4.
The helicopter was destroyed by forces and assets of Navy units. The Navy did not specify further details of the operation.
The Kamov Ka-27 model is designed to detect, track, and destroy submarines, and it can also be used for search and rescue operations as well as transporting cargo from ship decks.
It should be recalled that in the Rostov region, Russian air defense shot down its own helicopter Mil Mi-8, killing the crew.
Russian air forces also lost the reconnaissance-attack helicopter Kamov Ka-52 Alligator.
Russian military forces previously carried out a mistaken strike, shooting down their own aircraft Sukhoi Su-30SM while trying to repel drones that, according to the spokesman of the Ukrainian Navy, belonged to Ukraine.
