A Twosome Place to open its first US café in Virginia
South Korean coffeehouse chain A Twosome Place plans to open its first US location next month on King Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The company then plans to expand across the wider Washington metropolitan area, Korea Herald reports.
A combination of coffee and desserts
A Twosome Place CEO Moon Young-joo said the chain aims to introduce its own “K-pairing” format in the United States — combining coffee and desserts as a distinct café culture.
The dessert menu will be centered on the brand’s signature strawberry chocolate cake with whipped cream, fresh strawberries and crunchy chocolate balls. The company expects its lighter, less sweet cakes with whipped cream and fruit to stand apart from the denser buttercream-based desserts common in the United States.
Format of the Alexandria location
The 241-square-meter café will have 78 seats. The location will be operated directly by the company, which expects this to help it control quality and increase brand recognition in the US market.

A Twosome Place plans to introduce an all-day café format. Due to higher morning demand in the United States, the Alexandria location is expected to open as early as 5 or 6 a.m.
In addition to coffee and desserts, the menu will include breakfast, light lunches and dinners. In particular, visitors will be offered Korean cuisine-inspired dishes, including K-toast and bowls with bulgogi and bibimbap. Desserts will feature flavors of dalgona, black sesame and injeolmi — a rice cake coated in roasted soybean powder.
The company expects prices in the United States to be 10–20% higher than in South Korea due to higher labor and operating costs. According to Moon, the chain plans to compete not with other Korean bakeries but with established American café brands.
