TV Tower in Kryvyi Rih blacked out due to drone attack
As a result of a massive strike by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles on an infrastructure facility in Kryvyi Rih, central digital television and radio broadcasting has been completely disrupted.
The incident was reported by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, citing official data from media monitoring in Dnipropetrovsk region.
Olena Demchenko, a representative of the National Council in Dnipropetrovsk region, clarified that the enemy attack caused the TV tower to be fully de-energized.
Currently, law enforcement agencies are working at the site of the strike, and urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
Only after the special services complete their work will specialists from the State Enterprise “Radio Broadcasting, Radio Communication and Television” (RRT) be able to begin restoration efforts. Engineers will need to assess the extent of equipment damage and estimate the timeline for restoring the signal.
Due to the technical failure, channels of all digital multiplexes are off the air, leaving thousands of residents without access to nationwide news.
The popular local TV channel Rudana, an important information source for the community, has also stopped broadcasting.
The city’s radio airwaves have also suffered significant losses, as three major stations went silent: 91.6 Lux, 93.2 Classic, and 93.6 Power FM. This severely limits the ability to provide timely alerts to the population about air raid warnings and other threats.
Despite the difficult situation, some media outlets have managed to maintain a presence in the city’s media space. In particular, Radio Megapolis and Radio Kryvbas continue to operate, having switched to backup power sources in time.
The broadcast of the TV channel Pershyi Miskyi remains stable, as its signal is transmitted via the city’s cable networks.
Citizens are advised to use alternative sources for receiving information, including online platforms and satellite tuners.
Russians previously attacked Kharkiv and the region with drones, injuring a child and a pensioner.
They also attacked a freight train with a drone in Dnipropetrovsk region.
