A massive drone strike on energy infrastructure recorded in Kryvyi Rih

A large-scale drone attack by the Russian Federation on energy infrastructure facilities in Kryvyi Rih has left more than 45,000 residents without electricity, while 700 buildings have faced heating problems due to the shutdown of boiler houses.

The head of the city’s Defence Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, stated that small boiler houses and pumping stations are being switched to generators, although problems with reduced system pressure are expected. Disruptions to public transport have also been reported due to the resulting difficulties.

Municipal services and energy workers have been operating in severe cold conditions to eliminate the consequences of the strike. Most hospitals in the city automatically switched to generators, ensuring continuity of their operations.

At the same time, Kryvyi Rih has already suffered previous attacks. On 7 January, the city was subjected to a massive strike, during which the enemy targeted civilian facilities, including infrastructure.

It should be recalled that in Nikopol, Russian troops shelled an ambulance, injuring medical personnel.
In Kyiv, during a repeated drone attack, a medic was killed and an ambulance was severely damaged.

On the night of 9 January (from 7:30 p.m. on 8 January), the enemy carried out a combined strike on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure using attack UAVs as well as sea- and land-based missiles.
