Thousands in Zaporizhzhia Left Without Power and Heating Following Russian Strike

On March 12, 2026, Russian occupation forces carried out another strike on a district in Zaporizhzhia, causing widespread disruptions to utility services.

According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the attack left 15,958 residential customers and 38 legal entities without electricity. Additionally, 25,473 consumers are currently without heating due to infrastructure damage, creating a critical situation in the housing sector amid March cold weather.

Smoke is rising from the impact site, and emergency crews and energy workers are operating to restore power as quickly as possible. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties from this evening strike. However, earlier the same day, two patrol police officers were injured by shrapnel in the city.

As Russia continues its deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure, local authorities are urging residents to be prepared for possible delays in restoration efforts due to the threat of repeated strikes.

Earlier on March 12, Russian forces also struck Zaporizhzhia, injuring law enforcement personnel

Previously, Russia targeted energy infrastructure in Sumy region, leaving parts of the region without electricity.

Russian forces have also attacked an evacuation vehicle with FPV drones in Zaporizhzhia.
