Russia attacked Mykolaiv with drones, passenger train catches fire

On the morning of 4 March, Russian occupiers carried out a strike on Mykolaiv using attack drones. Preliminary reports indicate that one of the drones hit near a passenger train carriage.

This was reported by Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.

Initially, a correspondent reported a direct hit on the carriage, but later clarified that the carriage was empty and the Shahed drone fell on the track next to it.

As a result of the attack, a fire broke out in the carriage and a transport infrastructure facility was damaged. A man received minor injuries and was hospitalised. All necessary emergency services are working on site.

Vitalii Kim commented: “PS. The activity of public channels that posted the consequences of the attack in near real-time I consider as aiding the enemy. Appropriate measures will follow.”

An air raid alert was declared in the Mykolaiv district at 08:40. The head of the regional administration added: “Mykolaiv, Shahed drones approaching from the Spit towards the city.”

No information from Ukrzaliznytsia regarding the consequences of the attack has been reported yet.

Over the same 24-hour period, Russian forces attacked more than ten times with drones and shelled the Kamianske, Synelnykove, Samar and Nikopol districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region, damaging civilian infrastructure.

Russian troops also carried out 624 strikes on 36 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. As a result of attacks on the Zaporizhzhia and Polohy districts, two people were injured.

Additionally, on the afternoon of 3 March, Russian occupation forces struck the city of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region with a Geran-2 type drone.

As previously reported, Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, causing power outages.

Russian forces also attacked the Odesa region with drones, damaging port infrastructure.
